Thomas Digervold

Thomas Digervold is the first person born and raised in the cold of the Nordic region to hold the Certified Pommelier™ designation from the American Cider Association.

He has spent twenty years in food and drink, and the last decade obsessing over cider. Thomas is Based in Bergen, Norway, close to the biggest cider regions of the north. He has held well over 100 tastings, published a television series on Norwegian food channel, is a guest on different tv and radio shows, written for food and drink publications, and authored The Great Norwegian Cider Guide (2023) — the most comprehensive guide to Norwegian cider in print.

Thomas is the founder of Bergen Bobler — the International Nordic Cider & Sparkling Wine Festival, the most international cider festival in the Nordics. With guests and cider from across the world, and only the festival of its kind. He is also a co-founder of the Hardanger International Cider Festival. He is a board member of the Norwegian Pommelier Association, Certified Pommelier™, Beer Sommelier, and the Nordic Ambassador for Cider World.

As a judge, Thomas has served on juries as the Cider World Championship, Cider World, Norway’s Best Cider, the Swedish Must & Cider Championship, the Nordic International Cider Awards, and many more.

In 2026 he spoke at the CiderWorld Forum in Frankfurt, where he tried to explained to international producers how Norwegian cider makers promote their products, even though they cannot even legally show a photo of their own bottles or even name their cider on any media.

His mission is straightforward: find the world’s best cider, wherever it grows, and bring its makers to the Nordic and Bergen Bobler. And when he travels, he loves to bring the ciders of the Nordics to the world – skål!
