Beatrix Swanson
Beatrix Swanson is a cider writer and judge based in Cornwall in the far southwest of England. A member of the British Guild of Beer Writers, she came to cider through a background in whisky. She now writes regularly for Cider Review, the leading platform for long-form cider writing. Raised in Germany’s Apfelwein country and of American, Spanish, and Swedish heritage, Beatrix brings a deep appreciation for the global diversity of cider cultures. She has judged cider and perry competitions across the UK, Europe, and the US, and she is happiest when traveling the world in search of remarkable drinks.
Adam Wells
Adam Wells is a cider and perry writer, presenter and author. He is founder and lead writer of Cider Review, the world’s leading source of cider and perry reviews and long form content. Other bylines include Malus, Pellicle and jancisrobinson.com among others. He presents on Cider Voice, the UK’s only active podcast for aspirational cider and perry, and is the current holder of ‘Cider Communicator of the Year’ from the British Guild of Beer Writers. Described by Gabe Cook as ‘the key cider writer in the UK’, his first book, Perry: A Drinker’s Guide, was published in 2024.
Gabe Cook
Gabe Cook is The Ciderologist – an award-winning global cider expert changing the way people think and drink cider. He has more than seventeen years’ experience within the global cidery industry, working in the UK, New Zealand, Norway, the US and beyond.
Gabe has worked for all sizes and types of cidermaker, from a traditional farmhouse producer, all the way up to the world’s largest. As well as providing world class consultancy to cidermakers and cider sellers alike, Gabe has written two books – 2018’s Ciderology (Octopus) and 2021’s Modern British Cider (CAMRA Publishing). His authority on the fermented apple is confirmed by his role as Chair of Judges for the International Cider Awards.
